Service Description

Do you often feel overwhelmed, stressed, stuck in a loop of anxiety and worry, or just trying to survive? Perhaps you feel shut down, numb, or depressed? These feelings are symptoms that your nervous system is in survival mode and running the neurocircuitry of fight, flight, or freeze responses rather than the circuitry of regulation and connection. When our nervous system has been damaged by trauma, chronic stress, or neglect, we can become stuck in this survival state of being. When damaged, our nervous system's capacity to feel safe and our executive functioning is short-circuited. We are then unable to feel safe or function with all our faculties online even when the threat has passed. This workshop will help you recognize when your nervous system is stuck in survival mode and help you heal the wounded circuitry so that you can finally experience safety and well-being. When you befriend your nervous system's responses with love and compassion you become an active operator of its energy rather than a hijacked passenger. With an anchor in well-being, you can learn to regulate your nervous system, "return to grazing", and act with all your faculties online. Workshop materials are based on the book "Anchored: How to Befriend Your Nervous System Using Polyvagal Theory" by Deb Dana, whose work is guided by Dr. Stephen Porges. You can learn more about Deb Dana and her work on her website https://www.rhythmofregulation.com/. This life-changing information on befriending your nervous system will be supplemented by materials from the work of Brene Brown on shame resilience, Eckhart Tolle on present moment awareness, and Thich Nhat Hanh's book "Peace Is Every Step". We will learn together as a class and then the sessions with the horses will help you actually experience and practice becoming more self-aware aware and as you learn to befriend, heal, and regulate your nervous system. Limited to 6 participants, 3 minimum to conduct. Lunch will be provided. Contact Sheri at sheri@hchorsemanship.com if you have any questions.
